Galway Chamber Shortlist Announced for 2020 Virtual Business Awards
Galway businesses did not let the pandemic, home schooling or their new found love for banana bread get in the way of entering the 2020 Chamber Business Awards in association with Shannon Group plc. The number of entries this year exceeded all expectations, especially in the new category ‘Business Innovation’, leaving the judging panel with a difficult selection task.
This year’s awards, based on the theme “Ag Ceiliúradh Acmhainneachta & Nuálaíochta” or “Celebrating Resilience & Innovation”, will recognise the achievements of Chamber members and Galway businesses over the challenging year that was 2020.
Chamber President JP Gilmartin says “We’re delighted to see so many entries for the business awards. The level of interest this year is testament to the prestige of the event and the desire of businesses to be recognised with one of our awards. But more than anything it is a tribute to the strength and diversity of the business community in Galway and the quality of service delivered by our members across the board.”
Now, however, the full shortlist for all six categories has been chosen, with the winners to be announced at the virtual awards ceremony on Friday, February 26th.
Now in its 17th year, the Galway Chamber Business Awards has established itself as the premier awards event of the year for businesses across the region. However, this would not be the case without the support of the sponsors, says JP. “We are extremely grateful for the support of our sponsors, now more than ever.”
Shannon Group plc are the overall sponsor for the awards, and CEO of Shannon Group plc Mary Considine says “We’re delighted to join the Galway Chamber as main sponsor for the Business Awards once again this year. These awards provide an opportunity to acknowledge the innovation, talent and entrepreneurial spirit which is thriving in the Galway region. We in Shannon Group believe in the importance of celebrating companies of all sizes and sectors and the Chamber Business Awards provides the perfect platform for these businesses and their employees to get the credit they deserve.“
The winners of each category, along with ‘Overall Business of the Year Award’ and the ‘President’s Award’ (sponsored by PwC), will be announced at the Galway Chamber virtual awards on Friday 26th February.
