About Us

AuriGen Medical is a pre-clinical MedTech company, specialising in treatment of atrial-fibrillation(AF) a devastating heart-rhythm disorder affecting 50m people worldwide. AuriGen was co-founded by Dr.John Thompson and R&D specialist Tony O?Halloran and spun-out of NUIG-BioInnovate-Fellowship in 2018. As a Doctor, John had seen many patients with advanced AF fail all existing treatments, resulting in poor quality-of-life and increased stroke-risk, heart-failure, dementia & death. The AuriGen device treats part of the upper chamber of the heart known as the left-atrial-appendage(LAA) to prevent strokes and treat abnormal electrical activity causing AF, causing AF dramatically improving patient treatment success.
